Cottage FAQ’s

What is included in the price?
Everything apart from the charge for pets at Mote Cottage. All electric, oil for heating and hot water, coal and logs, bed linen, towels, tea towels. Even tablets for the dishwasher and firelighters/matches for the fires.

How far is it to the nearest shops?
New Cumnock is 2 miles (small shops including Spar, bakers, butchers, post office, hairdresser’s). Cumnock is 5 miles with medium sized shops. Ayr and Kilmarnock, the main shopping centres with 24 hour superstores, are 20 miles(1/2 hour drive). Street maps are provided in the cottages with the main stores highlighted.

How far to the nearest restaurant/pub?
Lochside House Hotel is the best restaurant in the area and is 3 ½ miles (on the opposite side of the farm loch) http://www.lochside-hotel.com/
There are several restaurants in Cumnock (including Indian and Chinese) and many more in Ayr and on the coast.

Do you allow pets?
Pets are only allowed at Mote Cottage, for which there is an additional charge of £20/pet/week.

Is there a hairdryer, alarm clock, shaver socket?
Yes, one hairdryer/cottage, minimum of one alarm clock/cottage, all bathrooms/shower rooms have electric shaver sockets. The cottages are equipped to a high standard. If you’re not sure please ask.

Are you flexible with arrival/departure days/times.
Our normal arrival time is 4 p.m. and departure by 10a.m., but were ever possible we are flexible. Late arrival and early departure times are always available. Late departure and early arrival times are dependant on when other bookings start or finish. This can usually only be advised within a few days of your arrival. Bookings through the winter period (except school holiday) and late availability usually within 2 weeks of arrival can usually have an arrival/departure on any day.

Are the cottages decorated for Christmas?
Yes, Christmas tree and all the trimmings. The children will not be disappointed.
